Plague Upon Society

There have been another two - this plague upon our society, schools, and children. I'm speaking of school shootings - this time, there are two young men dead, thirteen injured. The other shooting left one girl shot in the shoulder. When will this terrible trend end? Children are supposed to feel safe in school, a place for learning, growth, discovery. What they are finding is violence.

I'd like to begin to analyze what I believe to be the cause of school violence and its effects on everyone. The main cause is teasing. As a young boy, I was the kid most teased in my class. I was made of, bullied, and I did not stand up for myself. I handled it by bottling up my anger and pain inside, rendering me slightly emotionally unstable. When the main sources of this abuse left, I was finally able to come out of my shell. Never did I honestly consider the other path - answering violence with violence - because i knew I had alot more to live for than these idiots.

The effect, I believe, on parents is that some are afraid to send their children to school. Homeschooling is on the rise, which I believe is harmful to a student's future and social well being. As for
